What is a CSA

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for “community supported agriculture”. It’s a way for you to buy local, fresh food directly from a farmer, and cut out the middleman! For example, when you buy produce from a supermarket, the food goes from the farm to transportation to a distributor to the supermarket to you. When you buy from a farmers’ market, the produce goes from the farm to the farmers' market to you. When you buy from a local CSA, the produce goes from the farm directly to you! This allows members to receive the freshest, most nutritious produce available, all while supporting a local farmer!

Benefits of a CSA

Since your produce will come directly from a local farm it will be super fresh, super tasty, and super healthy!

You will have the opportunity to try some new foods and be creative with your cooking! We’ll make sure you receive a recipe with those less common items.

You will know where your food comes from. You can meet your farmer and have a close relationship with them. Weekly newsletters will be sent to members with the latest happenings on the farm and some tidbits of personal life as well. There will be many opportunities to ask questions ranging from how to use a certain vegetable to how we deal with weeds and pests.

How a CSA works?

Your local CSA will offer a certain number of “shares” to consumers, before the growing season starts. As these shares are purchased (either in one large sum or through a payment plan) your farmer will know how much of each crop needs to be planted and will have the money to purchase the seeds and other necessities for the year. In return, members will receive a CSA box filled with a variety of produce (weekly or bi-weekly) throughout the growing season. Members can choose between different sizes, and a pickup or delivery option.
